Stellantis Unveils Redesigned Ram Heavy-Duty Trucks
In a bid to reverse three years of declining sales, Stellantis has introduced a revamped lineup of its popular Ram heavy-duty trucks. The new 2025 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and chassis cab trucks boast fresh interior and exterior designs, along with a powerful 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel engine generating 430 horsepower and 1,075 foot-pounds of torque.
Expected to hit U.S. dealerships in the first quarter of this year, these updated models will come with a price tag starting at $47,560, approximately $2,300 more than their predecessors. This launch follows the delayed release of the redesigned Ram 1500 pickup last year.
Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, who recently returned to the company after a brief retirement, acknowledged the challenges faced during the rollout of the Ram 1500. Despite the setbacks, Kuniskis expressed optimism, stating, “It’s getting better every day.”
Challenges and Market Impact
The American market is highly competitive, with pickup trucks serving as vital products for brands like Ram. The company reported a significant 19% decline in sales in 2024, with Ram pickups experiencing a 16% drop. In contrast, competitors like Ford and GM’s Chevrolet maintained steady sales for their truck offerings.
Kuniskis candidly admitted, “We’ve been getting our ass kicked,” attributing a large part of the sales decline to the delayed rollout of the Ram 1500 model. The launch of these redesigned heavy-duty trucks is a crucial step in revitalizing the brand’s market presence.
Engine Options and Model Lineup
The new Ram Heavy Duty lineup for 2025 includes a range of models, such as Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited. In addition to the Cummins turbo diesel engine, customers can opt for a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 delivering 405 horsepower and 429 foot-pounds of torque.
These trucks are manufactured in Saltillo, Mexico, catering to the diverse needs of customers who rely on heavy-duty vehicles for hauling, towing, and other work-related tasks. With a focus on performance, durability, and design, the redesigned Ram trucks aim to set new standards in the competitive pickup truck market.
Ram’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction shines through in these revamped models, signaling a new chapter for the iconic heavy-duty truck brand.
