Netflix was all like “Hey, check it out, our cheaper, ad-supported plan has a whopping 94 million peeps using it every month!” That’s like 20 million more than back in November, so they’re definitely doing something right. They also pointed out that their ad-supported plan is reaching more 18- to 34-year-olds than any other broadcast or cable network in the U.S.
The ad-supported plan from Netflix only costs $7.99 a month, which is way cheaper than their ad-free plan at $17.99 a month. The company introduced this plan back in November 2022 and it seems to be paying off big time. Netflix President of Advertising, Amy Reinhard, was all like, “Yo, when you compare us to our competitors, we’re getting more attention from the peeps. It’s like they pay as much attention to the ads as they do to the actual shows and movies. Pretty cool, right?”
So, not really sure why this matters, but it looks like Netflix and other streaming services are starting to rely more on ads to make their products more profitable. And hey, if it means we get cheaper plans, then I’m all for it. Plus, reaching more young adults than any other network is a pretty big deal. Who would’ve thought that ads could be so popular, right?
